***Never Go Unprepared!***

"'Personally I see nothing positive at all about Chris McCandless's lifestyle or wilderness doctrine,' scolded another correspondent. 'Entering the wilderness purposefully ill-prepared, and surviving a near-death experience does not make you a better human, it makes you damn lucky'" (Krakauer 71).

Topic: Inspiration or Fool?

Based on all the information that was given previously from the book, we can tell that Chris was not prepared for his trip to the wilderness. From Chapter one, we knew that the only things that he brought as rice, a cheap leather boots, a 0.22 caliber riffle, and a map.The food and materials that clearly could not make him survive for a long period of time. Also, his attitude was so confident. From chapter eleven between the interviews of the narrator and his parents, we knew that his parents are always there to help after Chris when he faced any problems, makes him not independent enough. This is why he never believe that anything bad will happen to him. He was both materialistically and mentally unprepared for this trip, which leads to a tragic ending. Just like what this correspondent said, if he survived in his trip, it's really because of luck. From these evidence, we can tell that going unprepared for a trip is a fool thing to do.

***An Important Travel Advice That Travelers Should be Aware of***

"When Gallien asked whether his parents or a friend knew what he was up to- whether there was anyone who would sound the alarm if he got into trouble and was overdue- Alex answered that no, nobody knew of his plans, that in fact he hadn't spoken to his family in nearly two years" (Krakauer 6).

Topic: Travel Advice

In Alex's trip, he had made a big mistake- not telling anyone about his plan. The problem is that Alex is so confident about himself through out his trip thinking that he will never be run into danger. He might never thought about how he will end up dying in his trip. Because of his overconfidence, he never prepared any solutions in case of any difficult situation happens, which leads him to death. Moreover, he never tell anyone his travel plan. So when he have disappeared for a long time, no one noticed where he went, and therefore the others have missed the opportunity to rescue him. From his mistake, we could learn that we should communicate with someone close to us( it does not necessarily be our family) like friends or coworkers, so that when we are in danger, they will be able to help us based on our information provided.
